Istanbul Old City Tour: Basilica Cistern, Blue Mosque & Grand Bazaar

See the essential landmarks of historic Istanbul on this half-day walking tour through Sultanahmet. With a professional guide and a small group, you will move easily between Byzantine and Ottoman treasures, learning the stories behind each one along the way.
The journey begins underground in the atmospheric Basilica Cistern, a sixth-century marvel from the reign of Justinian I, then continues to the Blue Mosque with its sweeping domes and tiled interior. You will cross the open expanse of the ancient Hippodrome, pass by Hagia Sophia, and breathe in the spices of the centuries-old Egyptian Bazaar.
The tour finishes amid the labyrinth of the Grand Bazaar, the largest covered market on earth, where thousands of shops line dozens of vaulted streets. Expect moderate walking around Sultanahmet and plenty of pauses for explanation and photos.
